What better way to start our 2nd Anniversary fair knowing we have been nominated in the London 2012 Vintage Awards and have been placed in the top three vintage fairs in London. Voting has now closed and we are now eagerly awaiting the results!
However, we mustn’t let that go to our heads and we continue to place you in our top priority of making sure your visit to the fair will be a fabulous experience.
We have a great fair lined up and have invited some new stallholders to compliment our lovely regulars who continue to bring you a fantastic selection of vintage fashion, accessories and home items.
Andy and April from Razzle Dazzle Vintage have always loved the 1950’s – the music, fashion and lifestyle. So it is no surprise that they are going to showcase a predominantly 1950’s line up of ladies and gents clothes along with jewellery, bags, ties, gloves, scarves and even dressing table sets. I just can’t wait as it is one of my favourite eras. Here’s an idea of the sort of things they may bring – I just love the pink hat and sunglasses – imagine walking down a Paris boulevard in this! Oh La La!
We know there will be a mad rush for Georgiana and Anita from CandyPout to have your hair styled in a 1940/50’s fashion so make sure you book in early. Or perhaps vintage make-up is your thing. The girls belong to a collective of vintage hair and make up professionals with many years experience in film, TV, commercials and fashion.
At the fair they will be offering 1940’s or 1950’s hairstyles for £10.00. Or you can have a vintage makeover for £10.00 (£18.00 for both). Or perhaps you just fancy having your eyes made up (£5), lips painted (£4) or a nail paint (£5). They will even take photographs of your new look and email them to you.
Here are just a few images to give you inspiration of hairstyles and make-up in the 1940’s and 1950’s
I simply adore this look – how utterly elegant
The girls will also be offering a Moonicure – which is a typically vintage classic half-moon manicure that started in the 1920’s as it was seen as rather unladylike to paint the whole nail. The basic look was to leave the white half-moon bare – paint the rest of the nail, say a bright red and then especially in the 1940’s, also add a very thin white line at the tip.
The Internet has some fabulous tutorials on vintage make-up and hairstyles. I love Return2style.de who impart their knowledge of 1920-1940’s make-up looks – their web pages are fabulous – just look at this.
So, we really look forward to seeing you at the fair. New opening time of 10.00 am. And just so you are not confused with another event running on the same day in Wanstead we are at
CHRISTCHURCH HALL (next to Christ Church) Wanstead Place, (off Wanstead High Street), E11 2SW
We also hear the Central Line is carrying out engineering works ready for the Olympics so if you are coming via the tube from central London you will need to make your way to STRATFORD but NOT by the Central Line, however, change over to the Central Line at Stratford to reach Snaresbrook or Wanstead station.
