See you at our next fair on Saturday 1st March 2025

Our 4th anniversary will be a great affair on Saturday 7th June 2014

7th June calendar

We are thrilled that ‘Vintage Dotty‘ a unique catering caravan will be attending the fair. Bursting with heaps of vintage style and charm she will be offering morning and afternoon teas, light lunches and retro ice-creams (with sprinkles and sauces).  Relax inside in the vintage cafe or sit on the lawn or in the garden with Dotty to enjoy the delectable delights from Rebecca and her team of Dotty girls.

We are also delighted to announce that you can have a 1940’s vintage inspired ‘Moonicure’. From the 20s-40s it was all the rage to get a ‘moonicure’. The look was to leave the white half moon bare and paint the rest of the nail – red was the hot colour!

Paige McDonagh, a fabulous London Nail Artist who has worked for, amongst others, London Fashion Week and Selfridges, has made an exclusive moonicure menu card for us and she will paint your nails to perfection – you can choose one of her moonicure designs, some with a very modern twist, for the fantastic price of £10.00 or if you just want a file and paint then its a fiver!

hair receiver-3
A china and glass hair receiver with silver plated surround and catch.

The ‘hair receiver’ was a common fixture on the dressing tables of women from Victorian times to the early decades of the 20th century. Its purpose was to save hair culled from the hairbrush and comb, which were used vigorously on a daily basis. The hair could then be used to make RATTS (hair pieces to add volume) or stuffed into pincushions or pillows. Since hair was not washed as often as it is today, oils were frequently used to add scent and shine to hair. The residual oil made the hair an ideal stuffing for pincushions because it lubricated the pins, making it easier for them to pierce material and hair was less prickly than pinfeathers.

Ruby from Ruby’s Vintage Boutique tells me she loves vintage with a passion and hand selects her clothes and accessories with love and care.

“I really enjoy the textures, little telltale signs whether number of buttons, zips, type of beading etc when selecting a vintage item. I specialise in clothing and accessories for gentlemen and gentlewomen. Ladies, look out for the 1940s pure silk stockings (fully sealed and with instructions). Gents, check out ’60s funky Kipper ties and cravats and 1930s hand finished high waist dinner trews.”

Black Sheep Antiques are back with their fabulous collection of vintage dresses, accessories and vintage luggage.

Damascene, has it’s roots in the Middle Ages and originates from the oriental-style artisan work done in Damascus, Syria. It is the art of decorating non-precious metals with gold. The craft, perfected by the Arabs and brought with them to Spain, has remained virtually unchanged over the centuries. (source: lands-faraway.com)
