See you at our next fair on Saturday 29th August 2026

With our 1st Birthday coming up on June 4th it hardly seems a year since we opened our doors back in June 2010.

The sun was blazing and shoppers arrived throughout the day. We opened with over 30 stalls selling a fantastic selection of Vintage Fashion & Accessories, Textiles and Trimmings, Buttons, Lace, Collectables, Bric-A-Brac and homewares to name a few. The vintage café was inundated with orders and we kept hearing “Isn’t it lovely to drink a cup of tea out of a china cup”. By 2.00 pm the café had sold out of their fashion tribute cakes and we had poured over 300 cups of tea.

Which reminded me of this quote from Billy Connolly

Never trust a man who, when left alone in a room with a tea cosy, doesn’t try it on.

There are some lovely knitted tea cosies out there and they are making a resurgence as the popularity of afternoon and vintage teas are back in fashion. They were first used in Britain around 1867 and usually they were made from remnants of heavy brocade, or linen – which was often embroidered to show the owners skill at embroidery or to match the tea set. Talking of tea sets I remember going to boot sales and having your pick of beautiful vintage china cups – now it seems everyone wants them and they are becoming more expensive and harder to find and vintage crockery hire companies are popping up every day. We got these from a good rummage at the local boot sale.

This was our first flyer to advertise the event. The beautiful red dress caused such a furore of phone calls but sadly it was sold. Memphis vintage http://www.memphisvintage.com who kindly lent us the image have a fantastic selection of Prom dresses – look at their gallery of sold items – you’ll want to weep!

There were many favourites but the red dress won on the day but we love the floral one below as well. They have moved their store over to ebay now and you’ll find them at http://stores.ebay.com/Memphis-Vintage.

We had a fantastic line-up of knowledgeable, experienced stall holders selling an array of wonderful fashion and accessories and items for the home at very reasonable prices – for a good idea, take a look at the gallery page.

So we hope to see you on 4th June 2011 – the early bird catches the worm or in this case you’ll catch some Biba dresses, vintage Chanel, Jewelled 1920’s dresses,
some absolutely stunning vintage hats and gloves, shabby chic furniture, vintage baking items and hard-to-find vintage haberdashery.
